Tsunashiki Tenmangu, also refered to Tenji-san, is a shrine dedicated to Japanese deity of education, Sugawara no Michizane. Long time ago, Sugawara no Michizane stopped by at Suma on a journey to Kyushu and took a rest on the sitting mat which was made with big rope by local fishers. Because of that, 76 years after his death, the shrine was established here in Suma. It is familiar as \"Tenjin-san in Suma\" by locals and it believed to bring you a good luck or success in an entrance exam, academic achievement and so on.
