Kobe Center for Overseas Migration and Cultural Interaction

The Kobe Emigration Center, established in 1928 as a base of emigration of Japan, sent many people mainly to South America until it closed in 1971.The former emigration center was renovated and opened "Kobe Center for Overseas Migration and Cultural Interaction" in 2009 with three main axes including "Sailing for Hopes and Unknown Field (Emigration Center)" in order to preserve and display the history of oversea migration to younger generations, and "Field of Association with Multiple Cultures" in order to support people from overseas who live in the local area, and "Creation Field of Art" provides culture exchange through arts and offers art classes and open studios by renovating the former "Kobe Emigration Center" which has been used by many people as a multiple cultural coexistence center.
